DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

DeKalb County police say a shooting outside a nightclub led to a police pursuit and a crash on Redan Road on Friday. The crash injured seven people.

According to DeKalb County police, the incident started when an off-duty officer called in a shooting as he was leaving his job at a nightclub on Covington Drive. The officer heard shooting coming from a nightclub across the street.

Police say he saw a gray Dodge Durango and a Jaguar leave the scene at a high rate of speed.

Responding units caught up with the Durango, and tried to stop the vehicle but it took off. After a short chase, police say the driver of the Durango crashed into a power pole off Redan Road near South Hairston Road in Stone Mountain.

Authorities say several of the people in the Durango were taken to Grady Hospital.

One of the women in the SUV, Virgilia Gladney, was transported to Atlanta Medical Center with a serious head injury, according to her grandmother. She was on a breathing tube and had broken ribs and bones. Virgilia's cousin, Marquanita Gladney, was at Grady with serious injuries. She was conscious and responsive, according to her grandmother.

FOX 5 News has learned that a gun has been recovered, one that may have been tossed from the Durango during the police chase.

Police said all of those in the SUV are facing charges. DeKalb police have not filed charges yet as they continue to work to determine who fired the shots and why.

An officer from the Tucker precinct spotted the Jaguar, and stopped the vehicle on Highway 78 and Hugh Howell Road. Police say they found the victim, Gary Davis, from the shooting inside the car with a wound to the leg.

Davis said the fight began when someone tried to steal his convertible Jaguar. A bullet grazed Davis' leg.
