ATLANTA -

Authorities say a quick-thinking man help save a little boy from drowning in a pool in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Johnny Robinson said was swimming when he saw a 4-year-old boy was at bottom of a pool at the Scott Crossing apartment complex on Hollywood Drive.

Robinson said that he pulled the boy out of the water and performed CPR, who he said was swollen and limp.

"I learned [CPR] in school about 10 years ago," said Robinson, who said Wednesday was the first time he'd performed the life-saving technique.

Authorities said that it appeared that the boy had been at the bottom of the pool for several minutes before he was rescued. They said Robinson's CPR could have helped save the boy's life.

The 4-year-old was transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. He was said to be alert and conscious. Police are attempting to find out where the boy's parents were and how he ended up at the bottom of the pool.
