Two people were killed in a shooting near a recreation center in DeKalb County on Monday, police said.
The shooting occurred at Gresham and Church Street, located next to the Gresham Recreation Center. The pool was closed at the time of the shooting, but people were in the park, according to DeKalb County Police Department spokesperson Mekka Parish.
Witnesses said they heard a "parade of gunfire."
Alford Smith, a former Atlanta crime scene investigator, said that he saw the shooting and performed CPR on the victims.
"I saw the guy running, firing. Turning around, firing. I saw the two guys go down and I stopped to help," said Smith.
Smith, who now works security for Georgia World Congress Center, said that while he was performing CPR, a man who appeared to have been the shooter came back to check the conditions of the victims.
"This guy comes back without a gun…walks by me to make sure both of them are dead," said Smith.
Police searched the areas for suspects, but no arrests had been made as of late Monday.
