Nearly a dozen homes burned in Stockbridge fire

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -

Nearly a dozen homes were damaged in the Flippen Woods Subdivision in Stockbridge on Saturday. The flames jumped from attic to attic in eleven homes, leaving nearly two dozen people homeless.

Residents believe an electricity box exploded and sparked the fire around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

It took dozens of firefighters to extinguish the blaze leaving seven homes nearly destroyed.

The flames spread fast through the community leaving 23 in all without a place to stay.

Fire investigators worked into the night to try to determine the cause of the fire.

Residents also worked into the night to try to salvage whatever they could from their homes

One person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The Atlanta Red Cross is helping the families with a place to stay as well as clothing and food.
