MACON, Ga. -

Middle Georgia health officials say residents should be on the lookout for wild animals that may be carrying rabies, particularly foxes.

The warning comes after Bibb County man was charged and bitten by a fox June 22. The fox was shot and officials say it tested positive for rabies. The man who got bitten is now receiving shots.

WMAZ-TV reports two other foxes in the Macon area have been captured and euthanized in the last two weeks after the animals were spotted exhibiting strange behavior. But neither was tested for rabies.

North Central Health District officials say other animals most likely to carry rabies include skunks, bats and raccoons. Dogs and cats may also be rabid.
