Police say one man was shot and killed on Friday after he showed up at a home in Lawrenceville and confronted the homeowner. Authorities say the two men knew each other, and it appears the shooting was a case of self defense.
It happened at a home on Mill Shyre Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville at about 2:45 p.m. Investigators say the two men got into an argument before the shooting, and during that argument the homeowner was attacked by the other man with a wooden dowell the size of a baseball bat.
When police arrived at the home, they found the man dead in the driveway. The son of the homeowner, who didn't want to give his name, told FOX 5 his father and the man who allegedly attacked him knew each other through a mutual friend. He says there was an ongoing dispute over an item he says the man stole from his father.
While the investigation is still underway, police say they believe that the homeowner shot the man in self defense. No details about the shooter or the victim have been released.
Police say there were two eye witnesses who corroborated the accounts given to them by the homeowner. The homeowner has not been charged.
