DeKalb Schools approves 400 layoffs

Posted: Updated:

DeKalb County Schools have reportedly approved more than 400 layoffs.  The school system's latest round of cuts will affect employees including interpreters, media clerks and bus drivers, but will not impact teachers.

The move will reportedly save the district more than $16 million.

The DeKalb County School Board also voted last week on other measures to combat an $85 million budget deficit.  The final vote on raising taxes by $1 million will come on July 9.
