ATLANTA -
Two Walmart supercenters in Newton County were evacuated Wednesday morning due to a phoned-in bomb threat.
Police say the call was received between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. That's when they learned of a bomb threat at one of the supercenters. They say both stores were evacuated as a precaution because the caller did not say which of the two stores were being threatened.
Authorities used K-9s in their search for a suspected bomb device. Employees and customers were later allowed to return to the store after investigators gave the all-clear.
Both of the supercenters are located in Covington. One is one Salem Road at Brown Bridge Road and the other store is located on Industrial Boulevard near Interstate 20.
