A 17-year-old boy battling cancer was given the ride of a lifetime in a Lamborghini on Thursday.
For Nick Nutt, a junior at Hillgrove High School, the surprise ride in his dream car was bittersweet.
Nutt was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009. After eight months of intense chemotherapy, his leukemia went into remission.
In January, it resurfaced. Doctors discovered last month that Nick's cancer had spread to the bone marrow.
The ride in the luxury car was orchestrated by Nick's mother and his younger sister Brittny.
"Every day after chemo, he would go by the Lamborghini place and look at them, and this one was his favorite," said Brittny.
Nutt made some calls to make Nick's dream a reality.
"We remembered him. One of those kids with a gleam in his eye. He couldn't get enough of them," said Carsen Cornell of Lamborghini, Aston Martin Atlanta.
They arranged to have the car waiting for Nick outside Children's Healthcare at Egleston.
"They said, 'That's your ride home! You're taking a Lamborghini home while the rest of us finish up your packing,'" said Nick Nutt.
Nick say there are many things he likes about the car.
"Its shape, uniqueness…the curvature, the style," said Nick. "I think it's completely awesome. "
Friends say they are inspired by Nick's courage.
"We're definitely planning on making sure Nick gets the best of everything and making sure that he enjoys all that he has. We just want to make sure Nick really feels the love he has around him," said his friend Chris Eckartz.
Carsen says there are only two yellow models available right now anywhere that aren't spoken for. He says it an honor to be able to pull up in the color and model Nick has been admiring for so long.
