LITHONIA, Ga. -

Firefighters found man and a young child dead inside a car at the scene of a house fire in Lithonia on Tuesday night, according to investigators.

Neighbors said that it appeared that the fire began in the car and spread to the house, located in the 2300 block of Wellborn Hills Place.

"I heard like a pop, like an explosion so I looked and seen like the smoke…and the fire just erupted. Not even two minutes the later, the garage was engulfed in flames," said Jordan Bradley.

Neighbors said that three people lived at the home.

The house collapsed on the vehicle, according to DeKalb County firefighter Edward O'Brien.  There were two cars that caught fire.

The fire remains under investigation.
