COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Police say a Georgia man is being held without bond after officers found a pit bulldog with a gunshot wound to the face in Columbus.
Authorities say 22-year-old Anthony Rogers of Columbus is charged with animal cruelty. Another man was given a court summons on similar charges but wasn't arrested.
Police Sgt. Art Sheldon tells the Ledger-Enquirer (http://bit.ly/MdFMwN ) that officers received a report of gunshots early Monday and went to a home shared by Rogers and the other man.
Officers found three dogs in a cage without food, water or shelter. 1 of the animals had what officers say was a shotgun wound to its muzzle.
Aside from animal cruelty, Rogers is charged with a gun violation. He remains in jail.
Sheldon says officers seized all three dogs.
