ALPHARETTA, Ga. -

For thousands of Georgians, a missing smile could be a sign of hard economic times. Dr. Leo Yelizarov of Jones Bridge Dental Care is hoping to change that.

Dr. Yelizarov is quick to lecture on the problems that arise from neglecting your teeth.

"People suffer, they can get an infection. You know, swollen, if you get an abscess and end up in the hospital. It might be very serious," said Yelizarov.

Though he sees dozens of patients a day at his Alpharetta dental office, he says there are many more that go without dental treatment.

"I see such a demand and so many people need help and you know, help is nowhere," said Yelizarov.

For the past three years, help has come in the form of Jones Bridge Dental Care's free dental day. This weekend, volunteer dentists and assistants will provide free dental care to anyone who walks through their doors.

"We'll screen that person. We'll screen every single patient to see what's most important for them to make them more comfortable," Yelizarov said.

Patients will have a choice of a filling, extraction or cleaning at no cost to them. Last year, nearly 60 volunteers, led by Dr. Yelizarov, provided nearly $50,000 dollars in services. Yelizaroz says he just wants to give back to make sure everyone has something to smile about.

"People really desire to be healthy and we're here to help," said Yelizarov.

The free dentistry day is happening this Saturday starting at 7 a.m. It ends at 4 p.m. People usually start lining up early as 5 a.m. The dentistry says they will try to get in as many as they can.
