Eating healthier helps with weight loss

ATLANTA -

Tired of being picked on, not happy with how he looked, and not feeling very good about himself, Marshall Reid decided he needed to do something. Marshall got his family on board and for one month, Marshall made a conscious decision about every bite he put in his mouth.

How did it go?

Marshall and his mother Alexandra stopped by Good Day Atlanta and filled us in!

They'll be at the Atlanta Library and Z Fitness hosting a Snack Wars event later on Monday.

Snack Recipes!

1. Trail Mix - The Reids suggest making a large batch ahead of time, and then portioning it out into Ziploc bags. One kid-size handful per snack bag. Feel free to substitute the nuts and dried fruit to reflect your family's preference.

Cheerios
Almonds (the Reids like Blue Diamond)
Dry-roasted peanuts
Dark Chocolate Chips
Raisins

2. Pear with Portioned Cheese- Slice a pear and top with cheese.

Alouette Portions Cheese

3. Apple Sandwich - Core an apple, and slice it into 4 thick slices. The apple slices will be the "bread" in this sandwich. Marshall doesn't like peanut butter, so the Reid's spread almond butter between the apple slices. Finally, top the almond butter with a sprinkle of Kashi Granola and a drizzle of honey.

Apple
Almond Butter (or, Peanut Butter)
Granola (the Reids prefer Kashi)
Honey

4. Fruit Kabobs - Fruit Kabobs are a kid favorite in the Reid house. Stick your kids' favorite fruit on the kabob stick with a Marshmallow in the middle, so your kids have to eat their fruit first before getting to the Marshmallow treat. This can be a great healthy dessert or snack.
