DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

An early morning smash and grab deals a devastating blow to a brand new restaurant in Emory Village.

The Purple Corkscrew opened just two weeks ago, but the excitement has turned to anxiety for the owners. They received a text Sunday afternoon from their property manager telling them someone had broken one of their windows.

Owner Kellie Owens with her sister and business partner Steffini Bethea got to their restaurant on Oxford Road to find they have been robbed. Cash, iPads and several bottles of wine were missing from the store office and the burglar left behind shards of glass from an apparent smash and grab.

Their sense of security was also shattered, but the silver-lining is the lead that neighboring businesses were able to give on a possible suspect.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
