Some metro Atlanta transportation plans undefined

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

More than half of the metro Atlanta local governments that could get a share of the $1 billion transportation tax voters will consider next month don't have a project list more than two years after the referendum became law.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports some taxpayers will have no way of knowing what projects could be funded when they head to the polls on July 31. Unlike the $6 billion regional fund, there was no requirement to list local projects. Of the 78 metro Atlanta city, town and county governments surveyed, at least 10 local governments have refused to choose projects at all pending the outcome of the vote.

Transparency advocates say it is unfair to ask people footing the bill to weigh in on a measure without specifics.
