"My name is Stacy Rhetts & my dad Sid Damsgard is really my hero. Not only is he a good dad but he is a great person. He taught me to be a strong, independent, & caring person myself. He taught me no matter where you come from or what situation you grew up in to be a hard worker. I now own my own Pet Sitting business which I owe solely to him & the lessons he taught me.
Later in life after he retired from Lockheed he became the commander of his local American Legion. There he has done so much for the people of the community. From toy motorcycle runs for toys for tots, charity events for breast cancer, or all of his work with returning vets from war in Ride to recovery. For years he has been cutting off his ponytail to donate to Locks of Love which got me doing the same for the past 10 years. I wish I could remember all the ways he has impacted so many people's lives but there is just so many. I know he is the one person I look up to & want to impress with what I do. He has never met a stranger & once you meet him you walk away his friend.
As if my dad was not cool enough he has been riding vintage High Wheels bicycles since before I was born. In 1984 my dad Sid Damsgard rode his vintage 58" Columbia Expert from San Francisco - Boston for the 100yr anniversary of another group of men doing it. He has been riding it in parades & for charity events my whole life. You might have seen him riding his High Wheel in one of the many July 4th parades in Atlanta & Marietta.
I love my dad so very much. I feel very lucky to have a man like him in my life."
