BLUE RIDGE, Ga. -

Here's the perfect Father's Day gift for you. How would like to travel to another state and not have to drive? You can do so by taking a trip on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway!

For 2-year-old Field Noble it was a happy occasion. His dad, Whit, was taking him for a ride on the railway. It was a birthday present for his son.

"He loves trains. So we figured we'd get him out here on the train to take a ride on the scenic railroad," said Whit Noble.

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken boarded the train with Tim Griffin, operations manager of the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Just like Field, Griffin also loves trains. He still has an excitement for trains like he did as a child.

"We started 15 years ago and we've progressed. We started with five cars and now we're at 13," said Griffin.

Each day, when the 13 cars pull off, they chug along for an hour to the sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee on the Tennessee-Georgia line.

"You de-board from there for two hours in the city, grab a little lunch, do a little shopping, and then back on the train for the hour ride back," said Griffin.

The views along the way are incredible and the sounds associated with a train -- the clacking of the wheels on the track, the sound of the engine and the horn -- add to the experience. Milliken's inner child came out when he got a chance to blow the train's horn!

On Father's Day, the railway is running a special. Dads ride free with the purchase of one child's ticket. For more information on the train schedule and prices, click here!
