CUMMING, Ga. -

Lacrosse is the oldest sport in North America, first played by Native Americans. Now some of the oldest Americans are also enjoying it.

"Old Man Lacrosse" features local players ranging in age from 35 to 60. The league is the brainchild of Todd Haley.

An Alabama native, Haley hadn't heard of the sport until a few years ago when he moved to Georgia.

Haley's kids gave him a helmet and urged him to use it.

"I was like, OK, I'll try and put a team together. And that team exploded into 125 guys," Haley said.

The team has become such a success that Haley has had to turn people away, but not 60-year-old Louis Adamson, the league's oldest member.

"I just wish there were more older guys…might make it a little more fair," said Adamson.

No previous lacrosse experience is required, just a love of competition.

"We set up the rules with no body checking, because everybody wants to go to work tomorrow," said Haley.

The teams play every Wednesday night through June.
