Gwinnett officer resigns after arrest for soliciting prostitute

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. -

A one-time public information officer for Gwinnett County's police department has stepped down from the department as he faces accusations that he tried to solicit a prostitute.

Police arrested Cpl. Brian Kelly last month during a prostitution sting in Winder, Ga.

According to investigators, Kelly never told Barrow County deputies that he was an officer and didn't report his arrest to his own agency.

Kelly had worked as a Gwinnett PIO for two years and had been employed with the department since 2003
