Floyd County authorities say an elderly couple who had not been heard from since Saturday night has been found safe in Alabama. A Mattie's Call was issued late Sunday for 90-year-old Virgil Haney and 83-year-old Marie Haney.
Authorities say Mrs. Haney was found in Culman, Alabama on Sunday, and Mr. Haney was found in Warrior, Alabama on Monday morning. No other details were immediately available.
A Facebook page was set up to help locate the couple. According to a post on the page, the two called a relative and said they were lost somewhere between Rome and Cartersville, but the cell phone signal from that call indicated they were in Pulaski County. Hundreds of people visited the Facebook page to post comments of love and support.
