STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -

Investigators now believe the two men who were shot and killed in Thursday's shooting outside a funeral in DeKalb County were also the gunmen.

Police tell FOX 5 News that the two men were involved in a fight which ended up in a shootout.

Delmetrius Heard, 28, and Carlos Henderson Jr., 19, were killed in the shooting, according to the DeKalb County medical examiner's office.

Two other people were injured in the shooting.

The shooting occurred at the Victory for the WorldChurch on North Hairston Roadas people were leaving a funeral service for 19-year-old Ryan Devon Guider, who died after being shot on May 26.

A witness told FOX 5's Portia Bruner that Marcus Ventress,  the suspect in Guider's death, arrived at the funeral halfway through the service.

Ventress, 28, allegedly shot Guider several times in the stomach as an act of retaliation. Guider allegedly broke into Ventress' apartment and stole jewelry, drugs and cash. Guider also allegedly punched Ventress' mother, police said.

"It was crazy…the whole church was turned around. When the pastor said he saw angry eyes...part of it was because of what happened around, but mainly it was because the man actually came in there and showed his face," said the witness, who asked not to be identified.

The witness said that Henderson got into an altercation with friends of Ventress after the funeral.

DeKalb County Public Safety Director W.Z. Miller said that the men ambushed Henderson in the parking lot. Henderson then pulled a gun from a car and fired, possibly in self-defense, according to police.

Heard and Henderson killed each other in the ensuing exchange of gunfire.

Henderson's mother said that her son had rededicated his life and was trying to inspire young black males to get their lives on track. She said that she hopes his death will force young people to think twice and end the tragic circle of violence.

Police are still seeking Ventress for questioning.

"We are pleading with his family members to turn him in. We don't want any more violence on the part of anybody -- us, Mr. Ventress or anybody else," said Miller.

Victory for the World Church held a previously-scheduled open house teen program on Friday night.

"Violence begets violence and we have to offer an alternative," said Pastor Troy Sanders.

They talked to teens about the deadly shootings and alternatives to violence.

"There is hope and there's help. Our community -- we have to be a beacon light in our community especially in times like this," said Sanders.

Miller said police will be at the funerals of Henderson and Heard to ensure that there is no further violence.
