A young girl received the gift of a lifetime from her little brother.
Lauryn Clinkscales, 10, received a bone marrow transplant from her 8-year-old brother, C.J.
C.J. is training to qualify for the Junior Olympics. His 10-year old sister, who has Sickle Cell Anemia, says he's not just a fast runner, but he's her hero.
C.J. took more than three weeks off from summer training to donate his bone marrow to help save Lauryn's life.
"His first response was, ‘Will I have to get a shot?' We explained that he definitely would," said the children's mother, Deborah Clinkscales.
"Once he knew the gift that he was going to provide to Lauryn, there was no question in his mind it was the right thing to do," said Craig Clinkscales, their father.
Doctors who did the bone marrow transplant say Lauryn is now producing 100 percent of C.J.'s blood, essentially curing her of the disease.
C.J. called the experience "awesome."
"I'm happy he did, I feel closer to him," said Lauryn.
After recovering, C.J. is now back on track to try and make it to the Junior Olympics this summer.
"I hope he does make it, I know he took a break because I was in the hospital," said Lauryn. "He's like a little hero."
Lauryn's family wants to raise money for other families battling sickle cell disease. They're having a benefit called "Lauryn's Run" at Hamilton Mill Park in Dacula, on June 30.
