Tips:

HYDRATION

  • Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink
  • Avoid sugary drinks or drinks with high alcohol content
  • Carefully replace fluids during outdoor and strenuous activities
  • Exercise early in the morning
  • Speak with your doctor if you have conditions that limit your fluid intake
  • Be careful not to "overhydrate" -- too much water can dilute your body's salts

GRILLING

  • Don't put pits and grills too close to your home
  • Only use your grill outside
  • Check tubing on Gas Grills
  • Use care when disposing of coals

GARDENING

  • Keep kids away from mowers
  • Never let children ride on mowers
  • Inspect yourself and your kids for ticks
  • Severe allergies to stinging insects; carry your EPIPEN
  • Don't forget insect repellent

HOME

  • Make sure screens and windows are safe
  • Review the rules before play dates
  • Supervise children when they cook
  • Put away strings from blinds
