STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -

Stargazers got a treat on Tuesday.

Just before sunset, the orbital path of Venus passed across the face of the sun.

The celestial event won't happen again for another 105 years.

FOX 5 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Ken Cook was at the top of Stone Mountain for the special viewing hosted by the Atlanta Astronomy Club.

Venus, which is extremely hot, is one of earth's two neighbors and is very close in size to our planet.

This is the seventh transit visible since a German astronomer first predicted the phenomenon in the 17th century.

In order to witness it, viewers had to wear special safety glasses.
