ATLANTA -
We have received many stories about Awesome Dads that we can't put them all on the air! So, here are a few of the great stories we received that did not air on Good Day Atlanta.
"My dad's name is John Bischoff and he is the world's best dad. He has always kept us safe and he is always going out to help other people he is the type of dad who will give you the shirt off his back and he did this one time he saw a homeless family with 3 kids sitting on the side of the road and they have been without a place to live for weeks and living on the streets. The kids were 2, and 8, and 10 and he brought them to our house put them up and helped the parents get kids back in school and helped parents get jobs and helped get them a place to live. That's what he does he cares more for other people than himself and he is always teaching my sister and I that you need to help others at any sacrifice. All I know is I hope I grow up and become just like my dad and every year he doesn't want anything for father's day he wants us to donate the money to charities and he says God will give him his reward for being a great dad and husband to my mom when he goes back to God."
Austin Bischoff, 14 years old
"I have to submit this story for an awesome Dad – my husband, Eduardo Bryant.
Eduardo is such an undeniably awesome Dad, because he shows the most tender love to his children through times of incredible adversity. What's most amazing about that, is that he didn't have that type of father. His father sent his mother back to Panama when Eduardo was a child without giving him an opportunity to say good bye and shortly thereafter abandoned him (along with six other brothers and sisters). He and his older brother took care of the younger siblings for quite a while before the Family and Children Services agency found out and placed all six of them in various foster homes.
Afterwards, he spent the next 25 or so years making careless, selfish choices that landed him in one spot of trouble after another. When we met, he was just turning 40. We dated a year, were engaged a year, and married another year before we had our first child, Giancarlos. It was a difficult delivery and we almost lost him. Our son was in neonatal intensive care for a few days, and that was the first time I really saw Eduardo ‘light up" – was when he would go back and forth between NICU and my room to bring me pictures of the baby. Since then, Giancarlos has had multiple surgeries and procedures (19 to be exact) that required many sleepless nights between the Children's hospitals in Atlanta and Cincinnati. But Gian's "Papi" was there all the way. Eduardo was hands on with medical treatments we had to do at home – all with love and tenderness to a fearful child. Things I would have NEVER dreamed he was capable of. Since then we've had two other children (Carlito who is 6, and Santana who is 4), and I see him putting forth a valiant effort to show them the same attention – to balance what he has done (and does) for their older brother.
Eduardo's has had multiple medical problems that has rendered him unable to work. Since then, he's found his purpose in serving – not only through the mission teams at our church, but also within our home. He's totally devoted to our children. That's why I am in awe of him when I watch him with them every day. I know that every drop of love he pours into them is genuine and heartfelt – definitely not signs of a behavior learned.
Please consider Eduardo as an Awesome Dad!!! He's definitely an Awesome Dad to us!"

"Awesome dad and Double Blessing! My dad, Edward Smith has been the best dad any daughter could ever have. He always made our home life happy and often sacrificed for my brother and I. The time he spent with us and the things he exposed us to are immeasurable. But now as an adult myself and the mother of twins, he has been a Double blessing to my twins and given them double love, double exposure and double time!!!. My dad, a Vietnam veteran, shows his grandsons what a true everyday hero is. He is the man who potty trained them, takes them to get haircuts, plays Santa and puts Christmas toys together in the wee hours of the morning and reads them stories at night. He continues to make us proud to be an American and we salute him for his contributions to our family and the USA. Thank you daddy for being a double blessing to our family in so many ways!!"

"My father is name Meredith Elms and words can't express how much I really love him. He has done so much for me, my family, and so many others. Whenever I need him or anything I can count on him to get for me and to be there. Throughout my life I have always wanted to be like him which is kind hearted, loving, caring, and adoring. My dad is just someone anyone can look up to and become. I love my father with all my mind, heart, body, and soul; he is the most terrific father I could ever have."

"Hi, my name is Dustin Gage. I'm 14 years old, in Hampton, GA. I just wanted to share with you how great my dad really is! My dad's name is Daniel, 47 years old from Brock ton, Massachusetts. He has always been there for us even during hard times, and never ceases to amaze me how he does it when we're struggling in this economy. When I was around 4 or 5 years old he was an OTR truck driver, and quit his good paying job just so he can be with his family more often. When someone is in need of help, he will bend over backwards, and take the shirt off of his back to help someone out, family or not. This is the same man who will pull off to the side of the road with his 4-Wheel-Drive SUV, and pull a stranger out of a ditch, then ask for nothing in return! Even after all he has done to manage a family in his life, he always manages to make time to do things for us, and to be a great dad overall!"

"My dad is the very best. He is my HERO. He served our country for 42 + years and never complained. He had 4 girls who all respected him and loved him. He has a wife that he adores and she adores HIM NOW for 60 years. He has 12 grandchildren who think "he is the MAN."5 Great Grandchildren who love him and also believe "he is the Man." My Dad is awesome. He just turned 80 years old and doesn't act a day over 50 and we had a birthday party this past weekend and the entire family celebrated. My dad is the best and he is our MY HERO "Cool. Ben Pen ton" and also known as "Ben daddy"!!!!"

"My husband is an awesome husband and an awesome Dad. I wish there was some wonderful gift we could give him for Father's Day to show our appreciation. He is outnumbered 7 to 1 in our home as we have 6 beautiful daughters together. He's our hero, our protector, our voice of reason, and he's a barrel of fun. He encourages our daughters to be the best they can be and he definitely exemplifies a gentleman and shows them how a woman should be treated by a man. He often sacrifices for all of us. He's the ultimate parent he never misses a moment. He carries his Camcorder and tripod everywhere to ensure he captures every sports event, honorary moment, and precious milestone of our girls lives. On Saturdays, he cooks a huge breakfast and often takes the kids out whenever I just need to rest. Often our kids write stories about him being a superhero and how much fun he is to be around. I am so thankful that God has shed so much mercy and grace on our family and allowed the group of 7 ladies to be in the presence of such a wonderful caring provider. We could never thank him enough for all he does."

"My Dad has been gone for a bit over 9 years now, and although I am not supposed to discuss him to the public or anything, I feel the memories of him are all I have left now to share… the way my Dad was along with his stories he used to sit and tell, strange but absolutely true, will always remain in my heart and mind. My Dad had cancer, but he acted as if it was nothing but a common cold and always said.."I have too much to do and live for, to die!" He had a great sense of humor in which he could make people feel good even on their worst days by telling a joke or one of his great stories of his childhood, or singing a silly song. Even though as I have said, he is at rest now, the memories of these days and times still make me feel good even on my worst days. I will continue to talk about my Dad even if it hair lips the devil, which it should!!"

"I have the most outstanding and amazing awesome dad ever. He has been there for me always and about lost the house. As a baby I had a load of medical bills. My dad and mom got behind on the mortgage and now has paid for me to have the outstanding wedding and bought me a house now [that] I rent from him. I couldn't [imagine] life without my dad. He is the very best. Just like George Strait says "And he said, Let me tell you a secret, about a fathers love. A secret that my daddy said was just between us. He said daddies don't just love their children every now and then. It's a love without end, amen, its a love without end, amen "
Also I gave him his first grandson two years ago. Thanks dad for all you do for Ca yen, Brittany, David, Mom and I.
Happy Father's Day DAD, Greg Banks."
I love you,
Heather
"I do not know where to begin…. I could say so many things of why he is an awesome dad but at 44 years old, the most valuable lesson he has taught me was not through his words but through his grace, strength, and love for his family that he showed when my sister, his youngest daughter died. There were many times during those four months, we would sit silently maybe because the words were too hard to speak or maybe because it was just unspoken conversations that were understood between the two of us and God. It was hard for me to look at him but I found when I did, I didn't see my father. I saw a gallant man that had survived two kinds of cancer, lost his parents, his brothers, two of his sisters, a nephew - now a daughter and yet his eyes still sparkled. Once again, we are having some of those same quiet moments as he is battling another life threatening disease. However, this time it is no longer hard to look at him as his eyes still sparkle and his quiet presence still reflects his resilience, strength, and courage that continues to remind me, it's all going to be O.K.'d" I love you Dad!!"

"I would like to recognize my father, Lester, as an "Awesome Dad" this Father's Day. He has given guidance, encouragement, and strength to me, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren through good times and not-so-good times. He was in the Army (Infantry) stationed at the base in Pearl Harbor when the attack came on December 7, 1941. He is now a 91 year old Pearl Harbor survivor who is still living in Florida with his wife (my mother) of 66 years. I love you and I'm so proud of you Dad!"

"My dad is our guardian angel. He passed away 1 year ago with cancer; it was really hard to let him go. My dad loved everyone and was a friend to everyone. He was my hero he was always there when I needed him. My dad passed before my son was born and that was hard for me because he didn't get to see his first grandchild. I truly believe though that he died and sent my son to heal the pain of loosing him. I now know that my son has the best guardian angel ever. My dad will never be forgotten and he will love inside of all of us. We love you and miss u so!
In memory of Norman Ramey, died Feb 1, 2011"
love your daughters and son

"My daddy was a wonderful man. He passed away 3 yrs ago, but everything that he told me lives with me daily. I was an only child so you can say spoiled. LOL.... My dad never got upset with me, he was always kind. He believed in me with everything in him. I always saw my daddy help others in need. He never would talk down or about anyone. I didn't think he could love anyone harder then he loved me. Then came the grand kids. He loved them so much; his eyes would light up every time he saw them. They were his world. Once he passed, I would over hear conversation between my two kids about things he told them and thing he did with them. I was so shocked that I didn't know about this before. The joy my kids had talking about there 'Papa" was amazing. I didn't know they shared so much together. It was these memories that my kids shared with there papa that got me over such a hard time in my life. Even in death he was able to comfort me though his grand kids. One of the stories there share is the special hot coco he made, I was fixing my youngest daughter some and she said no that's not how papa made it. Then she started to show me how he made her hot coca. To this day she makes her coca the same way her papa did. When I see this I feel my dad's arms around me. I love you daddy you were the best gift God ever gave me. From your girls."
Thank You!

A Father
By Broken Borne
"Growing up in New York in the 1970's, when addressing your father to your friends, your statement may have gone something like this: "My ole man served in Vietnam." Later that phrase was used by women to describe their husbands or boyfriends. If you were directly addressing your father, your statement may have gone something like this: "Hey pop can you give me five dollars for lunch?" From a male perspective, you would never address your father as daddy, that would get you beat up or at least teased by your friends. Only girls could say daddy without any repercussions.
But none of these name labels mean anything if the man who went half on bringing you into this world, doesn't step up to the plate and help in the raising process; giving their off spring(S) guidance as they attend the school of life. My parents were separated, but never divorced and all times my brother's and I knew how to get in contact with our father and he never wavered in taking an active role in our upbringing, which brings me to this story.
It was nine o'clock in the morning on December 249th; I was eleven years old, when I found my mother lying in her bed non responsive. I ran back into my room and woke up my sixteen year old brother, to try mouth to mouth resuscitation. Neither one of us had any formal CPR training only what we saw on the television. After about a minute or two, my brother looked at me and said. "Mama's gone."
I immediately began rattling off phone numbers to my brother as he dialed them. Shortly after the first number was dialed people began to arrive. As our apartment began to fill with relatives, friends, EMS and police, no one removed me from the doorway of my mother's room; as I stood like a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier's. With all the confusion and people scurrying around our two-bedroom domicile, I looked over my right shoulder and at that very moment I could hear a tall, young looking white police officer ask my father a question. Even though our place was bustling with people, it felt like we were the only three in the apartment. I could hear the conversation between the two and they had to be about thirty feet away. The police officer asked my father, "Do you want your sons to go to a group home?" My father looked at the officer and responded. "As long as I'm breathing my sons aren't going in anyone's group home." Then I turned my attention back to my deceased mother.
Many years later I understood the importance of that statement my father said to the police officer. My father was the very essence of what a father should be. He stepped up to the plate, when it really mattered and hit a home run out the park as far as I was concerned. I hope when my time is up, I would have been at least half the man my father was; may he rest in peace.
Step up to the plate fathers, stepfathers, and male care takers and be an active role model for your legacy's to emulate."
"My dad is the best dad. I can count on him for anything in the world. I'm not sure if I could get through the day without him. He is my true role model and I wouldn't trade him for the world. I love you dad!"

"My dad died when I was 6 and every since then it's been hard to even talk about him to my mom, or big sister.
I cry almost everyday just thinking about him. But I have little brothers and their dad is like a dad to me and has been ever since I was 7....So I want to acknowledge "2" dads, Phil ant Johnson & Marcus Campbell. Thank you for being there for me. I LOVE YOU"

"When I was little, dad would take me places on his bicycle. I had a child's seat right behind his. It was so fun, like being on a ride at an amusement park. He'd be peddling up the hill and I'd say, "Faster daddy, faster!" He'd also keep a possible for me in his shirt pocket. It would stain his shirt purple, but he'd do it anyway because grape was my favorite flavor."

"My dad is so awesome. Throughout my whole life my dad has been the one who I looked up to weather he knows that or not. He has always been there for me even with all the bad mistakes in my life. He has always been proud to be my dad no matter what I was doing. He has always supported me with most decisions I have made for myself. He has always treated his children the best. He will do anything for you and as the years have gone buy, my dad and I have become even closer than ever, even when I have hurt him in many ways, through it all I know that he loves me and would do anything for me. I now live here in Silver Creek and my dad is in Central Florida. I can't tell you how much I miss seeing him and doing the little things together like decorating the house for Christmas. I love my dad so much that words will never be enough for me to show him. I love you dad with all my heart!"

"When my daddy walks into a room he lights up the room. He makes everyone smile and makes everyone feel good. Our daddy is the best daddy there is. Our daddy deserves a well celebrated father's day. I love my daddy!"

"The world's best Dad is my step dad. He has been there by my side since I was 3 months old. Now I'm 21 and he is still by my side. One thing I just love about his family is how they took me in as if I was one of their own. That is why I will always have my daddy back no matter what. That's why the world's best Dad is Johnny Willis."

"I have a wonderful dad! He teaches me a lot of different things. He spends lots of time with me. He helps me with my homework, has taught me how to cook, and he is always there when I need him. I can talk to my dad about anything. I will always love my daddy no matter what!"

"My awesome dad would have to go out to my fiance, Derrick Colbert. We welcomed a baby girl into the world in January, a month later he was laid off work. It has been a very trying time for him but he has been the biggest help since Jamaica's arrival. While I'm working most of the day, he's at home taking care of baby, and is doing an excellent job. He also has a 2-year-old daughter that he's very fond of. I have a 7-year-old son as well, and even though he's not Derrick's son, he addresses him as "daddy". He cooks, clean, and his help with the kids is extraordinary!"

My dad, Luther Bland Jr., is an awesome father! He and my mother have done a phenomenal job at raising their 7 children. My mother passed in 1998. Since then my dad has filled every parental role imaginable. He was determined to make life as normal as possible for his children and grandchildren. He is a grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 8 great grand-children. He retired in February 2010 and now enjoys traveling, fishing and serving his community.
My dad is a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for 18 consecutive years. With his recovery, he dedicated his life to inspiring and mentoring others who face the struggle of addiction. His initiatives are executed through sponsoring others within the local Alcoholics Anonymous group.
I salute my father today and always for the love and support that he has shown his family through every trial and many challenging times!

I have a AWESOME husband! My husband Larry Jones is a great dad and husband, I meet my husband when we were just teenagers and I knew that he would be my partner for life. We had our first child at 21yr and was married at the age of 24yr and shortly after we had our second child. We lived in a not so friendly family oriented city in which Larry immediately said "I have to move my family to something better", and that he did. Larry has sacrificed so much to take care of his family as other fathers/husbands has. He has raised our son, Larry II 18yrs, to be a great young man and he is teaching our teenage daughter, Alexis 13yrs, to watch out for the knuckle head boys....LOL. I could go on and on about how AWESOME Larry is but I just wanted to tell you a little bit of why he is so great.

My dad, Wayne "Red" Sanders, will be 76 in July and he is somewhat of a celebrity in the cattle industry. He still works everyday buying and shipping cattle across our great country to places like Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. He has always been a kind and generous man to everyone. We never knew who would be joining us for dinner or who would be working at our barn. He and my late mother had three kids, but I'm the only girl. Yes, I am a daddy's girl! When i was a little girl, my mom would fuss about all the strays and farm animals I would bring home and I can remember staying up late and falling asleep on the couch waiting for him to come home from the cattle sales to see what he brought me. It wasn ' t unusual for him to come through the door with a baby lamb or calf wrapped in his jacket for me! He taught us respect for people and animals. My favorite times were when we would load bags of feed on the truck and ride through the pastures feeding the cattle....just him and me. I wouldnt trade those days for gold! To say I love my daddy is an understatement. There are no words to describe the depth of love and appreciation I have for my daddy!

Shouting from Stone Mountain! JACK MATLOCK IS AN AWESOME DAD!!!! As I write this I can't help but wipe back tears of joy and happiness. There are so many words of love and appreciation I can say about my dad, but it still would not amount to what he has given to me and my sisters. Our mother died when I was 6 and my father didn't think twice about continuing on and taking care of us, as well as being there for each us. That was a very difficult time for us, but through it all he kept smiling, persevering and making sure we never went without. My dad worked for most of his life. Working was all he knew from the time he was 12 years old until he retired 2 years ago. His dad died when he was very young and he sacrificed to make sure his mom, stepdad and siblings were taken care of at a very early age. He is a self-taught man of many occupations. His greatest gratification came from helping others. Example, growing a garden just to give the vegetables away free of charge! Fixing the church, family, and neighbor's projects at no charge! He encouraged us to utilize our talents, and made sure we had choices to become who we are today. Daddy, I love you so much! Happy Father's Day!

I lost my own father 10 years ago just after Fathers day. My Father-in-Law, Jack Jenkins, has been by my side every since. He is 80 + 1, as he likes to call it. He volunteers with me every year for the Atlanta Chapter Alzheimer's Memory Walk. He sacrifices his own bed the night before to sleep on my sofa so that we can get up at 5:00 AM and join the cause. He is an awesome DAD. Here is a picture from the last walk.
Thank you so much for sharing on your network.

Our dad's name is Tyrone Hardnett. Our father is the most amazing, dedicated, and loving dad we know. He is always there for us. Whenever we fall he is there to pick us up and get us going again. He is the father of four: Zaria (11) , Isaiah (12) , Zion (7), and Zayda (6) Hardnett. He is also the amazing husband to our mom Zenobia Hardnett and has been for almost 13 years. Our father speaks the truth. He never has a reason to lie to us. We are so thankful to have a father like him. We are still in shock on what a great dad God gave us. We wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.
Happy Father's Day Daddy!! We Love You!!!
