It has the look and feel of a real disaster, but it was only a drill.
Hundreds of soldiers and first responders, donning hazmat suits, were out Saturday at the airport as part of an Army Reserve exercise called "Red Dragon."
The mass casualty drill took place at the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, to prepare for the possibility of a dangerous hazmat situation.
Members of the U.S. Army's 350th Chemical Battalion reacted to a mock radiation scare.
Busloads of Army Reservists arrived at the airport Saturday morning to take part.
The drill helps to improve response time and communication if the unit was ever actually activated for a crisis.
