WINDER, Ga. -

UPDATE: Just after the story aired on FOX 5 News at 5, the couple who saved Jamie Fowler contacted FOX 5 to identify themselves. Stay with FOX 5 for the reunion.

A Winder man is on a mission to thank two people who save his life when they pulled him from the waters of Lake Hartwell.

Jamie Fowler says a personal watercraft he was riding on exploded under him on Memorial Day, breaking his back and plunging him into the lake.

"It shot me about 50 feet straight up and it folded me backwards, broke my back. When I come down, I hit my head on the debris. Some people coming by on a boat came by and saved my life," said Fowler.

Fowler said that he would have died if he hadn't been rescued.

"The life vest wasn't working. I was sinking," said Fowler.

Doctors said that Fowler should fully recover and walk again.

A father of three, Fowler said he wants to express his gratitude to the Good Samaritans, but he didn't know who they were until they contacted FOX 5 after his story initially aired.
