Three men are credited with helping a driver who went into a diabetic shock while on Interstate 20.
Shae Avery was driving down southbound on I-20 approaching Tallapoosa when he says he blanked out on May 17.
Kenny Lanxton, Kevin Hart and a third man saw Avery's van swerving across the lanes.
"I could see the van was driving very erratically across left side, right side of the road," said Lanxton.
Lanxton and Hart say they knew to box Mr. Avery in with their vehicles and steer him off the interstate.
A third Good Samaritan rolled down his passenger side window and yelled a question at him.
"He says, ‘Are you drunk or what?' Well I wasn't drunk and I don't remember what I said," said Avery.
Avery says he doesn't remember stopping at the off-ramp or refusing donuts but accepting hard candy from the men.
"During the whole time, he was very disoriented, constantly repeating himself, just really wasn't himself," said Hart.
Hart, a physician's assistant, says they carried Avery out of his van into Lanxton's car. He drove Avery to a nearby Waffle House; Hart followed in Avery's van.
"Set him in a booth, got him to drink about half an orange juice," Hart said.
After he was out of danger Avery – an art gallery owner -- showed students at the University of West Georgia the finer points of art restoration.
"I'm very appreciative of being able to say thank you in public to these gentlemen," said Avery.
Avery had a reunion with Lanxton and Hart at the Waffle House on Tuesday.
Avery says he now carries snacks and glucose pills to make sure he doesn't get into any trouble with his diabetes. He also says there is an open invitation for a visit to his art gallery in Marietta for all three of the men who helped him.
