A puppy is recovering after being thrown from the window of a moving car in Clayton County.
A witness called 911 after seeing a man throw the dog from a moving car.
"Where he was thrown out of the vehicle, he landed on asphalt. And it basically removed the paw pads from his front feet. It removed the skin from the inside of both back feet so it is down to the bone and the ligaments on his back legs," said Dr. Erica Ortiz of the McDonough Animal Hospital.
Ortiz says the dog, who they call Dozer, was also under weight, but he's doing better with care for the last three days. He's gained weight and he's expected to make a full recovery.
Animal control officers are investigating but no one has been charged.
A rescue group is taking donations to pay for Dozer's vet bills and they will try to find him a good home. They say that there are already dozens of offers.
"He is a typical puppy. He wants to play and chew on everything. But he's a sweetheart. He is a lover. He will give you kisses and he wants to give you attention all the time," said Ortiz.
Adoption and donation information for Dozer can be found at the McDonough Animal Hospital at 770-957-3927, or email Maria Dorough at jmdoro@earthlink.net.
