Today we're heading northeast about 50 miles to Gainesville, Georgia, and the campus of Brenau University for the Brenau BBQ Championship! More than 50 teams will be in competition and the aroma of hickory, apple and peach wood smoke will fill the air!
This event is more than barbeque. Friday night the gates open at 6 p.m. for a preview party and concert featuring Jimmy Hall with Drippin' Wet. You may know him from the group Wet Willie. Admission Friday night is $10 for adults, kids 10 and under are free.
Then on Saturday, you get in for $5. Gates open at 10 a.m. and you'll want to pace yourself there will be so many things going on: tastings and judging, arts and crafts, kids activities, classic car show, and music including the Fiddleheads from Dahlonega!
