The city of Atlanta is set to pay another multi-million dollar settlement to resolve a lawsuit.
A blind resident suffered serious injuries when he slipped and fell on a broken sidewalk that he had complained about for years.
According to the lawsuit, Alex Jenkins suffered severe injuries in the 2008 fall.
The city negotiated a $3 million settlement with Jenkins lawyers, a city attorney said on Wednesday.
Back in 2005, a city inspector checked the damaged sidewalk. In 2007, residents – including Jenkins – complained to Atlanta City Council member Natalyn Archibong. She then contacted the Atlanta Public Works Department. The accident occurred in 2008.
It would have cost around $2,000 to repair the sidewalk.
