A young woman was drugged and married to an Indian man while she was unconscious, the Times of India reported Friday.
Officers investigating the sham wedding in Shanti Nagar, near Amravati, central India, said the astonishing plot was hatched when she refused to wed her teacher's son.
Rahul Kamble had fallen in love with the woman, who has not been named, while she attended tailoring classes at his father's house.
When she rejected Kamble's advances, it's alleged that his relatives laced her tea with drugs and put her in a wedding dress.
They then carried the unconscious bride into a temple where she was married to Kamble, it's claimed.
The shocked "wife" only knew about the matrimony when she woke up the next day and Kamble showed her a video of the ceremony, the Times said.
She was warned not complain but eventually reported the April 21 marriage to police. Officers registered offenses this week against Kamble and 14 members of his family.
