A Cobb County police officer who was hit by a suspected drunk driver in a wrong-way crash will be hospitalized for at least one more day.
Investigators say the officer was hurt in a crash that began with a chase in Cherokee County on Saturday morning. The crash then traveled into Cobb County, where the accident happened.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Richards, crossed over a median near the Interstate 575-75 split. They say he then crashed into Sgt. M.J. Crider’s police cruiser.
Richards survived and was also rushed to a hospital.
Sgt. Crider was hospitalized, and is expected to remain there until at least Tuesday.
