Bus Driver Not Dead In Turnpike Crash

New Jersey state police say a bus driver reportedly killed in a crash that injured about a dozen people has not died.

Sgt. Brian Polite says the driver is hospitalized in critical condition.

State police earlier said the collision between a bus and tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike has claimed the life of the bus driver.

Two other people were hospitalized in serious condition following Wednesday's crash, which occurred shortly after noon in the southbound lanes in South Brunswick.

The bus and at least one tractor-trailer were involved in the accident. The cause remains under investigation.

About 50 to 60 people were on the bus when the crash occurred. Of those who were hurt, most sustained only minor injuries.

The accident is causing extensive delays on the turnpike and nearby local roads.
