Atlanta police say a man is trying to abduct girls as they walk to school. Two different girls were approached Thursday morning. Luckily neither one got in the man's car.
Investigators say a 12-year-old girl gave them description of the man who tried to lure her into his car. A composite sketch of the man was released on Thursday.
Police say they are anxious to get this person off the street before he is successful in abducting someone.
Sixteen-year-old Wanda George was approached as she left the Deerfield Garden Apartments on Campbellton road on Thursday
"He rolled down the passenger side [window]. He was like if you don't get in here I'm going to make you get in. So I ran," said Wanda George
The second girl, a 12-year-old, was approached Thursday morning off of Sylvan Road.
"He asked her to come to the car. She kept walking. He said come to the car, again. She kept walking. He then turned the car and actually threatened physical violence on the child if she didn't come to the car," said Lt. Stacie Gibbs of the Atlanta Police Department.
But like George, the 12-year-old refused to get in the man's car. Police want anyone who is approached to run and call 911.
"She did a really a good job. She called 911. She was able to get units in the area very quickly," said Gibbs.
Police say both girls lived within two miles of each other.
George says the man was driving a black car. The 12-year-old girl described it as a silver 4-door sedan.
George's mom was relieved her daughter reacted the right way. She said she was glad her her 16-year-old daughter screamed and ran away. She said most girls would have panicked and get into the car.
Police say the man had a black mark on his forehead. They say the 12-year-old was able to get a partial tag on the vehicle, with the first three letters of “BUX.”
