A former Georgia Tech football player has traded his cleats and jersey for a paint brush and canvas.
Former defensive back Michael Peterson has the tenacity of a single-minded tackler and the touch of a worldly artist.
Peterson said music during warm-ups used to inspire him before games, now he uses music to provide a spark in painting.
He said former coach Paul Johnson provided encouragement.
Peterson received his diploma from Georgia Tech, but is now studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design. He said he'll take his artistic talents as far as it will go.
"I'd like to be somewhere out of the country," he said. "Paris, why not? I just want to…take one step at a time because the ride so far has been fun."
Peterson's first show is Saturday, April 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the James K. Holder Studio and Galleria on Peter Street.
