ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - A judge has ruled that a man accused of fatally shooting a northeast Georgia police officer will stand trial in Athens, with jurors brought in from another county. The judge ruled this week that jurors for the trial of Jamie Hood will be chosen from Elbert County. Hood is accused in the death of Athens-Clarke County Police Officer "Buddy" Christian.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a pregnant woman killed as she tried to cross a highway in northeast Georgia was heading home from a convenience store when the crash happened. A Georgia State Patrol trooper identifies the woman killed Sunday night as she tried to cross Ga. 365 as 29-year-old Kimberly Michelle Coates.

JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Police say one teenager was hospitalized after being shot and three other teens are facing charges after a resident fought back during an attempted robbery. Clayton County police say the four teens tried to rob a resident inside the Laurel Park Apartments on Ga. 85 about 3 o'clock this morning.

ATLANTA (AP) - Republican voters in Georgia will finally select their Senate nominee today after a bruising nine-week runoff. Voters will be heading to the polls to decide between U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston and businessman David Perdue. The winner will compete against Democrat Michelle Nunn.
