ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - Wintry conditions in Atlanta caused delays and flight cancellations at the nation’s busiest airport.
Delta spokesman Anthony Black said Tuesday that the airline had pre-canceled about 500 flights in and out of Atlanta due to the weather. AirTran officials told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they pre-canceled 58 flights Monday night.
The Federal Aviation Administration Web site said some flights arriving in Atlanta were delayed by about an hour because of snow and ice.
A couple inches of snow had fallen across north Georgia by mid-morning as a cold rain turned to snow in the Atlanta area.
The National Weather Service on Tuesday morning was reporting about two inches of snow in the north Georgia mountains, where many school districts had already called for a day off.
