FOREST PARK, Ga. - Dozens of cats dumped at the State Farmers Market have created a health hazard at the commerce center. The feral cats are now roaming the state market in Forest Park.
The cats have overrun the State Farmers Market in Forest Park. In the past, groups have worked to trap the wild animals, rehabilitate and adopt them, but some say that's not working.
Farmers have complained that the cats have gotten into the stalls, sparking food safety and health concerns.
Georgia's new Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black said he is working on ways to get rid of the cats.
Black said the farmer's market is a big economic engine in the area and he's worried about health concerns. Black insists that there are no plans to kill the cats, but something needs to be done. Black said he will work with anyone who can come up with a plan for the cats.
