RANGER, Ga. (MyFOX Atlanta) - The grain elevator is a hunk of twisted metal, the hay barn is collapsed, and the cattle barn is gone, too.

At Riverview Farms in Ranger, tornado-strength winds ripped much of the farm apart.

The winds came through early Wednesday morning at the sustainable organic farm in Gordon County. The farm in northwest Georgia is one of the largest in the state.

It sounded like a freight train, and Charlotte Swancy said the family ran for cover. The pig barn blew away around them, but the concrete barriers of their pens protected them.

No people or animals were hurt in the storm, but four barns were destroyed and the farm was unable to to ship out orders this week to the Atlanta families and restaurants it provides meats and vegetables.

Rebuilding has already begun at Riverview, and they're hoping to provide food to their regular customers next week. But making all the repairs needed after the storm will take months.
