Two teachers in Clayton County were in hot water Wednesday night. The teachers are accused of fighting in front of students. The incident happened at Rex Mill Middle School Monday morning. The teachers are now facing charges.
According to police, the incident was prompted by an apparent love triangle that spilled onto the school grounds.
One parent said she was furious and wanted the teachers fired.
According to a Clayton County police report, two female teachers were fighting over a male teacher after discovering a love letter on a Facebook page. The police report said the discovery of the letter led to the confrontation, which was filled with expletives.
According to the report, a couple of students told police the teachers used expletives and more foul language.
The status of the two teachers, who were criminally charged, is still unclear. A spokesperson with the Clayton County school district would only say that the issue was a personnel matter which is still under investigation.
Both teachers face a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. One teacher faces an additional charge of simple assault.
According to the school resource officer who responded to the altercation, the teachers were issued misdemeanor citations and released on their own recognizance.
