FAIRBURN, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - Fairburn police said Wednesday that they were searching for a big rig driver who they said was involved in a hit-and-run accident. Police said the accident sent a 25-year-old Stone Mountain man to the hospital. The victim said he wanted the driver to turn himself in.

Investigators said the crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. Monday. Joshua Chapman said he was driving on Interstate 85 northbound in Fairburn, between the median wall and the tractor-trailer. Chapman said the truck swerved over and suddenly ground its tires against his car.

Chapman said his car hit the median wall, before crashing on the other side of the interstate.

Chapman was taken to the hospital and now faces rehabilitation for back injuries.

Investigators said they had a vague description of the 18-wheeler, which they said had a red cab.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call Fairburn police.
