Atlanta, GA - A wild start to the weekend in DeKalb County.

Police tell FOX5, 5 men stole an ATM from South DeKalb Mall around 2:30 am.

The men took the ATM to a nearby street where they tried to open it, but neighbors heard the racket and called police.

When officers arrived, the men jumped in several vehicles and took off. One of the men nearly ran over a DeKalb County officer who opened fire on the vehicle, but he missed.

Police say they chased the men across DeKalb, Clayton and parts of Atlanta. They caught up with one of the suspects after he crashed on I-285 at Jonesboro Road and another at Godby Road and Norman Boulevard.

Two officers were involved in an accident on I-285 when a vehicle, unrelated to the thefts, crashed into them. The officers were blocking traffic so that a tow truck could remove the suspects' truck. No one was seriously hurt.

Police are looking for at least two others involved in the ATM theft.
