Florida Police: Sick Man Dies After Friends Dump Him on Roadside

Authorities say friends of an ill man dumped the 54-year-old from a car and planned to meet him at a hospital, but the man died on the side of a Seminole County road.

According to Seminole County officials, friends of Mark Kelly DePinto called emergency responders on Saturday and asked for directions to the closest fire station. Authorities say the caller was trying to get help for DePinto, who was suffering from cardiac arrest.

A dispatcher told the caller to start CPR until emergency personnel arrived. But fire spokesman Lt. Dave Williams said the car drove away when crews got to the scene. DePinto was dead, his body left on the side of the road.
