The death of soldiers is one of war's ugliest outcomes. The Department of Defense announced the deaths of three Georgia soldiers on Thursday. The family one of the soldiers talks about the news.
Twenty-one-year-old Specialist Jeffrey Jordan, 37-year-old Major Kevin Jenrette and 39-year-old Staff Sergeant John Beale were part of the Georgia National Guard's 48th Infantry Brigade combat.
The men were killed Thursday, by an IED and small arms fire near Kapisa, Afghanistan.
"he was a loving father, he loved his wife and he fought for his country," said Beale's father-in-law David Collier.
Collier said Beale married his daughter crystal right out of high school. The couple worked at the Clayton County Water Authority.
The flag at Beale's old job flew at half staff in his memory.
"He loved the military and he was good at it. Everything he did he was good at," said Collier.
Staff Sgt. Beale's father-in-law said the family is still reeling from the news of his death. He said the fact that he died doing what he loved, gives them comfort.
"He loved his country; he loved the military," said Collier. "He was just a good man."
Beale is survived by his wife and two children, an 8-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son.
