Cobb County Officer Injured

ATLANTA - Investigators say a Cobb County police officer was hit by a suspected drunk driver.

The officer was assisting a road work crew on I-575 near Bells Ferry Road. Officials say officer "R.E. Drew" had his emergency lights on when his cruiser was struck by a Ford F-250.

Police say the driver of the truck was 43 year-old Carl Furstenwerth of Woodstock. Investigators say Furstenwerth did not slow down or change lanes before hitting the cruiser. Both men were seriously injured.
