ATLANTA - Ford Motor Company says it has new tests that everyone who drives a car should see. They claim that generic parts used to fix cars after a wreck might not be as safe as the brand name parts.
The video is compelling enough that the government wants to know more about the results.
But the FOX 5 I-Team's Dana Fowle says there are many who argue that's not the whole story.
This is brewing debate: brand name parts versus the off-brand. More and more insurance companies are using them in collision repair and you don't even know it.
Is that a problem? Aftermarket parts suppliers say absolutely not. But, the big automakers and some collision repair shops say, yes it is and they'll show you why.
