ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A bill to outlaw the abuse of GPS tracking devices headed down to the wire at the state legislature Tuesday. The bill needs Senate approval to become law and could change what you can do to track someone electronically.

Rep. Kevin Levitas is pushing a bill in the state legislature which would make it illegal to put a GPS tracking device on a vehicle in a public place.

T.J. Ward, a private investigator, said he wasn't happy about the bill but it was a compromise private investigators could live with.

Levitas said the bill would crack down on stalkers, angry boyfriends from putting a GPS tracking device on a person's vehicle.

The bill passed the House and needs Senate approval. Levitas said he thinks the bill will pass.
