ATLANTA - There was mounting criticism Monday of BP and the federal government for not doing enough to clean up the massive oil spill in the Gulf. A Georgia company is about to become a part of the monumental effort.
Georgia-based MyCelx claims they have the technology, not only to expedite the clean-up effort, but to do it better.
The company has a fabric that can absorb the dense oil. The giant mats are produced in a Georgia factory.
"This is actually just polypropylene sheeting," said Connie Mixon, CEO MyCelx.
The Georgia company has the attention of BP.
The question now is, if MyCelx becomes part of the historic effort, will they be able to keep up with the enormous demand?
"No, I don't think any one company can do that. But we certainly have a place," said Mixon.
