An 81-year-old Coweta County man was behind bars Wednesday and facing arson and aggravated assault charges. Investigators said the man he tried to set his girlfriend on fire at their Senoia home.
Investigators said 81-year-old I.R. Smallwood doused his 35-year-old girlfriend with gasoline and tried to set her on fire after she refused to get out of bed.
Police said the house went up in flames, but the woman managed to get away. The woman was treated on the scene and is expected to be OK.
Smallwood was charged with arson and aggravated assault.
